Gait Based Pilates
Strengthen and align your entire body from the ground up
Have you ever marveled at what an amazing and awe inspiring feat of skill and talent it is for the human body to be able to walk? Even if you haven’t spent hours pondering how the heel strikes the ground, it’s pretty easy to see how walking is a repetitive movement for most of us. Whether you are a gardener or a runner or a circus performer, walking is something that we have in common, and something that can highlight and clarify issues that may be limiting other activities — in any part of the body. A synthesis of Linnea’s unique and diverse set of skills, Gait Based Pilates is functional training and corrective exercise based on your gait (walking) mechanics.
Experience the cutting-edge approach to gait mechanics: Anatomy in Motion
Based on the revolutionary work of Gary Ward, Anatomy in Motion (AiM) gives practitioners a map into full body, 3D joint movement through 6 distinct phases of gait. During most human movement, the foot is the only body part in contact with the ground. Therefor if something isn’t working well in your feet, it will have a direct impact on the rest of your body — and by improving the function of your feet, we can improve the function of your entire body. In this way the work that we do during a session is reinforced with every step you take post-session. Cool!
We offer Gait Based Pilates in private sessions for those who want one-on-one assessment and treatment, and in a group environment through ongoing classes and periodic workshops
