FAQ

General Questions

I have never done Pilates, is this the right place for me?

Yes! Our instructors love working with clients new to Pilates. We’re here to help!

Often clients choose to book a few private sessions first, but that’s up to your comfort and individual preferences. If you are working with an injury, we highly recommend calling or emailing us first so we can discuss if starting with privates will be important to your success.  Private sessions can be booked here

How do I sign up?

You can sign up for a class, private, or duet online or by reaching out to us directly by email at info@corpokinetic.com or phone at 510-463-1473.

What do I wear for Pilates?

Wear clothing that is comfortable to move in! You’ll be laying on your back with legs in the air for part of Pilates, so either pants or more form-fitting shorts that won’t fall down will work better.

Pilates is done barefoot or in socks.  For our in-person sessions, we do require socks for hygiene and the longevity of the equipment.

For virtual sessions, wearing a contrasting colored top and bottoms can help us see you better.

Should I take a private or a group class?

Privates are perfect if you’re looking for targeted work on your specific goals or are a beginner looking for support as you start on your Pilates journey.  Many of our clients do both - privates to target their needs, and group classes for consistency and frequency of practice.

If you have an injury, please reach out to us to discuss whether private sessions will be important for your success.  Otherwise, it is up to you!

Studio Policies

When can I sign up for class?

You can sign up for class online up to 2 hours before class. If you miss the deadline, you may text the studio at 510-463-1473 to see if there’s space. However, if there’s only one person signed up, class may be cancelled. So, whenever possible, make sure to sign up early!

What are your cancellation policies?

We ask that you provide us with at least 24 hours notice should you need to reschedule or cancel your class or private session. We charge in full for cancellations made within 24 hours and for missed appointments. You can cancel anytime via our online booking system, or by contacting us. Thanks for your understanding.

We do, however, have an exception to this cancellation policy for health and safety concerns.  If you are seeing us in-person and are sick, we request that you stay home and let us know as soon as you can.  There is no charge for rescheduling sessions due to health and safety measures.

Questions about Group Classes

What to expect?

Virtual-classes-Pilates.jpg

Group classes are offered in-person, and many also have the option to join online. In the beginning of class the instructor will introduce themselves, ask you about any injuries they should know about, and if you have any special requests. Throughout class, the instructor will alternate between demonstrating and offering clients feedback and adjustments. Our classes are unique in this way — you’ll always be seen and supported.

How do I set up for a virtual class?

Find a spot in your home that’s easy to move in, and arrange for the camera to capture the long side of the mat. Check out our guide to virtual sessions. If you have any questions or concerns, we offer complimentary 15 minute consults prior to your first class to help get you situated,. Contact us to set one up.

How do I join the virtual class?

Once you sign up you’ll receive a confirmation email with the link to join your virtual class. When it’s time for class, click on the link and you’ll see your instructor waiting for you! Easy peasy. If you didn’t get the email after signing up for class, please let us know right away.

Do I have to turn my video on?

It’s not required. This is your space to use as you like and the most important thing is that you’re comfortable. We do recommend turning the video on so that you can get the most out of your time with us, but you can decide if and when you do that.

Do I need props for the virtual class?

No, all you need for class is a mat-sized space. We recommend using a mat, but you can also choose to be on carpet or a towel.

We often use props, but they aren’t required - your instructor will give options with and without props. Our Tower on the Go and Feet and Fascia classes are the only classes where equipment is required.

Interested in buying props? Our Pilates essentials kit contains a foam roller (36” minimum), gertie ball, and resistance bands. Don’t forget that our members get exclusive discounts on props! All props are available for purchase in our store.

What is Tower on the Go?

TOWER ON THE GO

TOWER ON THE GO

The Tower on the Go  is a simple piece of Pilates equipment which hooks over a door without any changes made to your door or walls. It simulates a Pilates Springboard, bringing the studio repertoire to your home. It is easy to assembly and disassemble, and can stay in place throughout the week without taking up room in your home. Rent for $15/month or purchase for $165. Contact us for more information.

How do I set up for Tower on the Go?

Set up is easy: hook it over the door and tighten the straps. For safety reasons, you’ll need to hook it over the door so that when you’re pulling on the springs, you’re pulling the door closed.

Contact us for a free set-up consult so we can help ensure your equipment is set up safely before class.
